Welcome to our school! Cavendish is a well-established school that has grown from strength to strength over the last 24 years.
All of our students have an EHCP plan, which we carefully review to create individualized support plans tailored to each student's needs. Our small class sizes are intentional, allowing us to provide more one-to-one support. Every class also has a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to further enhance the learning experience.
At Cavendish, we implement a spiral curriculum. This means that as students progress from year to year, the lessons they cover are revisited with added depth, ensuring they gain more knowledge and finish school with strong qualifications. Our curriculum is ambitious because we want the best for our students, and we believe they should have the same opportunities as those in mainstream education.
We offer a broad curriculum, including GCSEs, vocational courses, entry-level qualifications, and unit awards. Subjects include English, math, all three sciences, art, design and technology (DT), IT, and the humanities such as geography, history, and religious studies. Our students leave with qualifications equivalent to those in mainstream schools.
Beyond academics, we foster a strong sense of community. Our students eat lunch together, and there’s a family-like atmosphere here. After lunch, students have the option to visit the gym, play board games, or take a walk in nearby Southwark Park, which we are fortunate to back onto. We also have therapy dogs that students can walk during lunchtime, which has become a much-loved activity.
Our students have enjoyed various trips. We understand that travel can be challenging for some, so we organize trips to build confidence and skills like road safety and bus travel. Recent trips have included visits to the Science Museum and athletic activities at the Olympic Park, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
If you're a parent, carer, or social worker, and you believe we can meet your child's needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us to organize a visit. We can arrange it at a time that suits you and your young person, whether during the day or after school.
Yours faithfully,
